Tips for Using Your Movements for Balance & Strength DVD
(VHS Videotape does not include all these features)
Listen to the Introduction the first time you use the DVD or you can read a similar Introduction on this website. It provides related information you may want to know before you start.
You can select specific sections (Chapters), i. e. Warm-Up, Balance, Core Strength, rather than follow the complete program each time. You may prefer this option if you are adding Movements for Balance & Strength to other exercises you do or if you are short on time.
You can also select some sections from Balance Essentials and some sections from Balance Challenge.
At any time, you can pause the DVD to repeat a movement or hold it longer. This is particularly useful for Upper Body Strength when using hand held weights. Some people may want to do several sets to further strengthen a muscle group.
As you practice any movement, continue to inhale and exhale as deeply as you can. Breathing regularly and deeply is SO important when you are moving your body.
Water: Many older people are not in the habit of drinking water regularly throughout the day.
The reasons are numerous...not wanting to make frequent trips to the bathroom is probably on the top of the list. Many of you will be practicing Movements for Balance & Strength in your homes. Your bathroom is close at hand. You can stop the DVD if you need to go. Please sip water while you exercise.
